Marco is a data scientist and physicist who specializes in applying advanced computational methods to mineral exploration. Before joining KoBold, he spent several years in high-energy physics at CERN, contributing to the analyses that led to the discovery of the Higgs boson. At KoBold, he integrates geochemical, geophysical, and reflectance spectroscopy datasets to improve pegmatite targeting and lithium resource identification. His work focuses on developing machine learning and probabilistic modeling approaches to interpret complex subsurface data and support exploration for the critical minerals needed for the energy transition.
Marco received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Padua, Italy, where he studied a rare Higgs boson production mechanism and developed methods to enhance its detectability with the CMS detector at CERN.
