Vice President of Field Operations
Heather Friesen, BSc. Eng., P. Eng., is a veteran of operations engineering and execution with a career that has spanned 30 years in the oil & gas and mining industries at both small start-ups and large multi-national companies.
Before joining KoBold Metals, Heather led the Global Wells department at Suncor Energy, a large Canadian oil producer, with accountability for the company’s onshore, offshore and international drilling, completions and logistics. At that same organization, Heather grew her skills by taking key operational risk positions in Operations Integrity Audit (OIA) and Health Safety & Environment (HSE) where she led a body of work across the company in safety culture assessment before moving into the role of Director of HSE. Her knowledge and passion for HSE management systems and operational integrity are foundational to her ability to lead large, complex, global operating teams. Her past experience also includes leadership roles in production, pipeline and facilities design, project management and surface and minerals land.
Originally from a small, self-sufficient farm north of Dryden in Ontario, Canada, Heather holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Manitoba. She and her husband Shane have two boys and she is passionate about self-propelled exploration of the outdoors.
