KoBold Attends the 2026 Silicon Valley Minerals Forum at Stanford University

In June, Stanford’s Paul Brest Hall filled with mining executives, AI scientists, venture capitalists, government officials, geologists, and more for the fourth annual Silicon Valley Minerals Forum. This conference is organized by Mineral-X, a Stanford industrial affiliate program in the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability—focused on developing technological innovations to create a resilient and sustainable critical mineral supply chain. KoBold is a founding affiliate member of Mineral-X.

The two-day event featured lively panels, presentations, and networking—with a significant focus on U.S. policy as related to critical minerals, geopolitics, and how companies are leveraging AI to enhance human intelligence. Over thirty KoBolders attended the conference.

Several KoBold leaders gave presentations and moderated discussions, including CTO Tom Hunt’s presentation showcasing a deep learning model that can predict geochemistry from core images alone.

Other presentations included CEO Kurt House sharing KoBold’s framework for quantifying epistemic uncertainty, data scientist Iris Hwang’s talk about AI-supported mine planning, and VP Geoscience George Gilchrist discussing how AI amplifies good scientific thinking at KoBold.

We’ll see you at SVMF 2027!
