Head of Subsurface Imaging
Patrick Goodwill is a founder and executive in medical imaging, with a career built around taking technically difficult ideas and turning them into real systems, products, and organizations.
He founded and helped lead Magnetic Insight to bring magnetic particle imaging from an academic project into commercial deployment and clinical testing. Backed by venture capital and NIH funding, the company built and shipped two dozen multi-ton systems across four continents, earned CE marking, and advanced the technology to first-in-human testing. His roles spanned company strategy, fundraising, recruiting, product direction, technical leadership, and execution.
Before that, he was part of the early development of magnetic particle imaging at UC Berkeley, where he helped establish foundational theory and instrumentation for the field. Earlier still, he worked at Intel in processor design and silicon debug.
Patrick earned his BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and his PhD in Bioengineering from the joint UC Berkeley–UCSF Graduate Program.
