Mingomba Mining Ltd Teams Up with Capital Drilling to Launch Vocational Skills Scholarships

To ensure our Zambian communities are strong and futureproof, we recently partnered with Capital Drilling to launch 2026 scholarships for five students at the Don Bosco Skills Training Centre in Chingola. This is the second phase of our joint program with Capital Drilling, the first being our effort in 2025 to upgrade the facilities at Don Bosco, which provided the school with mining-relevant metal fabrication workshop tools, a 4-cylinder diesel engine for mine vehicle training, and other improvements to their first aid room and electrical safety.

With the school now upgraded, we’ve awarded our Don Bosco scholarships to 5 youth from communities adjacent to Mingomba to learn relevant skills that will help them access jobs in the mining sector. The recipients of these grants were: Elizabeth Chanda, Raymond Chikoti, Mwila Chileya, Violet Chipili, and Luckson Mwansa. At the end of their year-long sponsorships, the 5 will receive Level 1 certification in one of the following fields: Electrical Installation, Metal Fabrication, Automotive Mechanics, or Hospitality.

These scholarships are comprehensive and will cover everything from tuition/exam fees to PPE, course materials, accommodations and meals, a monthly stipend, bedding and toiletries, and even medical insurance. Mingomba Mining Ltd and Capital Drilling strongly believe in our community’s future, especially through investment in the education and self-reliance of our youth, so they can find employment. With these two phases of support now implemented, KoBold and its contractual partners are committed to the quality and safety of all mining-sector students in Zambia.
